The column to your left provides some sound reasons why pet sitting may be a good choice for your pet, rather than boarding at a kennel. I know, first-hand, because I used to board my own dog at a kennel - before I found out about in-home pet sitting. I had heard stories from other pet owners about dog fights and sick pets being picked up from boarding facilities. It brings you comfort, as a pet owner, to know that your pet is home where he/she is safe and content. So, you may already know the advantages of in-home pet care - but how do you know which sitter to choose?
My Background:
Let me share a little about my background to help you decide. First, I am a native Texan who has permanently moved to Sudbury after getting married - to be with my husband, a veterinarian who has lived in the area for nearly two decades. I am also a licensed school teacher (in Texas and Massachusetts) and have taught in Texas schools for several years. Rest assured that you may share the same confidence that parents have had knowing their children were safe in my care in the classroom! I also have experience working with animals in several other avenues.
Experience:
For example, my background includes two years of experience managing a family-owned dog kennel (NOT a boarding kennel, but a breeding program). There, I was responsible for feeding, bathing, walking, and general daily care of animals, as well as for administration of oral and topical medications and vaccinations, helping with births/deliveries, tube and bottle feeding of newborns, and maintaining computerized healthcare records for all animals - not to mention making each one feel loved and special!
In addition, I served as a dog show handler for two years and am currently owner of a champion APBT. I am also an avid reader of animal healthcare literature and am a member in good standing with PUPS/Professional United Pet Sitters, LLC, and Pet Sitters Associates. I am fully insured with Pet Sitters Associates, LLC, and carry additional property protection coverage. I am also a supporter of the Humane Society and the SPCA. More importantly, I share your great love of animals - and can't wait to meet you and your pet family members!
