A word from your sitter/trainer:

Welcome, and thanks for visiting the web site for Atta-Boy! Pet Guardian - offering dog walking, training, & pet care in Sudbury, MA.

Understandably, it is an important choice, deciding which pet care provider, dog walker, or trainer to use for your beloved pet family member.

The information contained here provides some sound reasons why Atta-Boy! may be a good choice for your pet.

To help you decide, allow me to introduce myself...

My Background:

First, I am a native Texan who moved to Sudbury, MA, after getting married, to be with my husband, a veterinarian who has lived in New England area for more than two decades. Prior to getting married, I was a licensed school teacher (in Texas and Massachusetts) and taught in Texas schools for several years, as well as helping to integrate an after-school journalism program into an area Massachusetts charter school.

After relocating to Massachusetts in 2008, I founded my pet care company, Atta-Boy!, which allows me to help animals...my true calling! I chose the name Atta-Boy! for this business since I believe in the power of positive thinking & motivation, and saw its benefits in the classroom.

Pet Care Experience:

For the past 12 years, I have owned & operated Atta-Boy! Pet Guardian, providing pet sitting and dog walking services for animals of all shapes & sizes, including cats, dogs, & other species - all in Sudbury, MA.

Before that, I spent two years helping to manage a family-owned dog kennel. There, I was responsible for feeding, bathing, walking, and general daily care of animals, as well as for administration of oral & topical medications and vaccinations, as needed, helping with births/deliveries, and occasionally bottle feeding of newborns when needed, and maintaining computerized healthcare records for all animals - not to mention making each one feel loved and special!

In addition, for the past nearly 17 years now, I have served as a dog show owner/handler/trainer/competitor for my own dogs, including a Portuguese Water Dog & two American Staffordshire/Pit Bull Terriers, all conformation champions. Our household also includes two conformation champion Golden Retrievers, who my husband owns/trains.

My previous canine buddy, Benny, an American Pit Bull (Staffordshire) Terrier started his training & competing late in life, at 6.5 & 9.5 years old, respectively...yet competed until he was 13.5 years old & became the #2 "Most Multi-Titled UKC Dog" in the History of His Breed!" Benny also served as a certified, working Therapy Dog for nearly 2 years at Wingate Healthcare in Sudbury & at college "De-Stress Events" at Framingham State University - all through Pets & People Foundation & Therapy Dogs International (TDI).

Chip, my current American Staffordshire (Pit Bull) Terrier, at just 4 years old, has already earned 70 Titles in all venues combined, including: American Kennel Club (AKC), United Kennel Club (UKC), International All Breed Canine Association (IABCA), & Do More With Your Dog (DMWYD). Dog events that Chip has trained with me & titled in include: Obedience, Rally, Barn Hunt, Dock Diving, Agility, Conformation, Lure Coursing, Nose Work, Weight Pull, Canine Good Citizen, SPOT-ON, Farm Dog, Trick Dog & Stunt Dog.

In addition to training & competing across the country with my own dogs, I am also a member of the Association of Professional Dog Trainers (APDT) & a Certified Trick Dog Instructor (CTDI) with Do More With Your Dog (DMWYD). I am also a certified AKC Evaluator for the Canine Good Citizen program (CGC, CGCA, CGCU), and AKC STAR PUPPY Evaluator, AKC Trick Dog Evaluator (Trick Dog Novice, Intermediate, Advanced, & Performer levels); as well as a UKC SPOT Evaluator.

Additionally, I currently serve on the Editorial Committee of our national breed club, the Staffordshire Terrier Club of America, as well as serving on the STCA Performance Committee. While on the national Performance Committee, we have obtained approval from AKC to have the TT (ATTS Temperament Test) recognized as a permanent title for our breed, have updated our STCA Performance Versatility Awards worksheet and point system to include the latest AKC title offerings, and have just added a fifth level, called the "Diamond" level, to our STCA Performance Versatility Awards to raise the bar and give highly motivated competitors new goals to aim for when training & trialing with their dogs!

More importantly, I share your great love of animals - and can't wait to meet you and your pet family members! Look forward to hearing from you and to the opportunity of serving you and your pets!

Sincerely,

Dalana Bewley Huss
